A few things worth knowing.
Will it work on my Mac?
ClipOrigin requires macOS 26 or later and Apple Silicon. Open the DMG, drag the app into Applications, then launch it. Direct paste needs Accessibility permission; screenshots and screen text recognition need Screen Recording permission. The app guides you when needed.
How do the trial and lifetime license work?
Try every feature for 14 days without an activation code. Initial registration needs an internet connection. Pay once for lifetime access to every feature and all future updates, with no subscription or renewal fees. One license key activates up to 3 Macs. Manage devices in Settings. Use offline for up to 30 days before online verification is needed. After the trial ends, existing content remains available to view, copy and export.
Are my clips and images uploaded?
History, original images and editable projects stay on your Mac. Pause capture, exclude apps, and set retention and storage limits. AI connections are optional, and clients can only access content you authorize. Trial registration and license verification require a network connection.
Which export formats are supported?
Export PNG, JPEG, HEIC, WebP or segmented PDF, or save an editable .cliporiginshot project. Capture vertical or horizontal scrolling with automatic or manual scrolling. Dynamic content, fixed headers and virtual lists may need a smaller selection or manual seam adjustments.
How does original-image handoff work?
Copy an original-image reference and pass it to a connected local MCP client such as Codex, Cursor or Claude Code. The reference identifies that image and does not grant access to your full history. Manage and revoke permissions independently. Browser-based and remote agents still need a separate file transfer.
